In anticipation for S’s big two-year mark next month, I’ve been scouring the internets looking for the perfect 2 year-old gifts. I want her presents to be age appropriate, as well assist us in getting outside and being active a lot this summer. Picking out her gifts is probably as much fun for me as (I’m hoping!) it will be for her to play with everything.
Now that she’s two, it will be fun to see her interact with her gifts a bit more. In the past, she was more interested in the packaging than the actual gift! Not wanting to break the bank either, I’m glad I’ve been able to save some money, but still be able to give S the gifts I want to.
Gift #1: Step2 Water Activity Table
I have big plans to take advantage of the warm summer weather and I think this toy will be just the ticket. S is big on splashing in the tub, so I’m hoping she’ll take that same enthusiasm to the outdoor water table. I didn’t really get any deals on this item (except for free shipping).
Gift #2: Little Tikes Princess Cozy Coupe
I was a little wary of the whole “princess” part of this car (I’m sure we’ll be in full-on princess mode in a few years, but I’d like to put that off for a little bit!), but as far as I can tell, the only thing princess about it is the pink color. Fine by me. I’m told that these cars are a big hit with the little ones, so I’m hoping S is in agreement. I snagged this car for $15.00…saving $35.00 off list price.
Gift #3: LeapFrog Fridge Phonics
I purchased the fridge phonics awhile ago (along with the barn animals fridge toy, which was one of S’s Easter basket gifts) on a great sale/deal at Target. I snagged this for $5.00 (saved $20.00). More of a “keep-her-busy-while-I-straighten up/load the dishwasher/start a load of laundry-kind-of-toy”, but hopefully she’ll get some educational value out of it. I’m told the recordings can be rather annoying for parents, so we’ll see how often the fridge phonics make their appearance!
Gift #4: Little Tikes Deluxe Wooden Kitchen and Laundry Center
This is the “big-ticket item” and the one I spent many hours looking for. I read reviews on a million play kitchens and finally decided on this one. I wanted something sturdy (not plastic and tippy) and one that was realistic. I love that this has the little laundry center, too. There were no sales to be had on this item, unfortunately, but I did save $85.00 by using my winnings from Swagbucks. I’m pretty happy about only paying $135.00 for an awesome kitchen! This should allow for some quality rainy-day play indoors (and hopefully let mommy get some cooking done in her own kitchen while S plays along.)
I’d say a savings of $150.00 is pretty good for S’s birthday gifts! I can’t wait to see her play with all her toys. J and I are thinking of spreading out her gifts during her birthday month so she can enjoy each one a little more instead of having a bunch of new things all at once!
I also saw this cute shirt that Baby Rabies found for her little guy. I’m thinking of getting one for S:
And then maybe one of these for me!
Now that gifts are ordered, time to figure out the most important thing…the CAKE!
